The Holy Grail Lean Burn Engine lives through Him

On November 15, 2009, I decided to add a Current Status button below the Brief History button to my website to cover matters that have become too timely and critical to be ignored. The situation surrounding myself requires that I do my best to help the world-in-affliction. There is such a level of misinformation in internal combustion (IC) technology, that I am duty bound to help clarify the situation. I will begin this brief discourse with the year when I had my first stroke.  That became a new chapter in my life of being able to see things with a new clarity. 

In 2004, Federal Mogul, a company in many areas of automotive technology, formed a relationship with CEI which lasted until 2006/2007, when the Head of Technology left Federal Mogul. Between 2007 and 2008, a foremost ignition coil maker, Diamond Electric, formed a relationship with me and CEI but it ended in 2008 when I had a second stroke. CEI stockholders were not willing to support CEI any further. Despite the stroke, I made the most important innovation of my career in ignition coil design, and filed a patent when I had recovered.

In 2009/2010, in my pain, I was given a profound gift. I came to understand the makeup of the perfect engine.  I now had a way to hold the various conversations on IC engines and put things in perspective. In terms of the so called “green” developments in the automotive field, I came to see them as dangerous to the world’s future. Too many people embrace them without question. The blind lead the blind, except that now it is done on a world scale.  There is a serious need to find an independent Angel Investor and to form a Lean Burn Engine effort (LBE), to develop prototypes of the “perfect” engine, the 2-Stroke ICS engine, also known as the Holy Grail Lean Burn Engine, based on two provisional patents filed in 2009, to be converted to a U.S. patent application to be filed in 2/2010.

LBE will be granted rights to engine related patents that issue for the U.S. from filings from January, 2009 to December, 2010.  LBE will have the right to license others for royalties to 12/2015, when the patents become royalty free, i.e. they enter the public domain. Work in 2009 has further shown that the 2-Stroke ICS is a “perfect” engine, i.e. it has none of the limitations of standard engines.  See the website www.leanburnlives.com for the “perfect” engine, in particular the Holy Grail Lean Burn Engine on the website.

LBE will be granted the right to file a foreign patent in the country of its interest, especially in emerging economies such as Brazil for a Brazilian Investor, W. Europe for a European Investor, e.g. SAAB, China for a Chinese Investor, filed before May 22, 2010, and will have a royalty-free exclusive license in its country of exclusivity to 12/2015. It will, of course, also be given a license to the United States engine market through 12/2015, when the license becomes royalty free.

LBE’s highest priority will be to build a prototype, single cylinder 2-Stroke ICS engine to be completed in 2010.   It is expected to show the highest efficiency (>55%), and the greatest power for a small, two-cylinder engine, with the lowest cost. In 2010, LBE will begin to design a two-cylinder version of the engine.  A U.S. patent application was filed in January, 2010, which emphasizes a Perfect Miller Cycle with an expansion ratio of 18 to 1 and an effective compression ratio of 10.5 to 1, and includes an electronic fuel injector and an intake air booster. The two provisional applications were converted to a U.S. patent application and filed in January, 2010.

The 2-Stroke ICS engine, under normal driving conditions, consumes very little fuel while only emitting air, water and small amounts of CO2. A power station produces toxins: coal ash and polluted water to supply the electrical power that Electric Vehicles (EVs) need. Also, the EV requires cancer causing rare earth metals to be mined, produced mainly by China.  In addition, there is no point to the EVs with their outrageous price: $43,000 for the GM Volt and $89,000 for Al Gore’s EV. President Obama is being deceived by technocrats. On the other hand, the low-cost, light-weight, high efficiency, powerful, two cylinder engine, the Holy Grail Lean Burn Engine, can be built with a suitable chassis for a mere $10,000 in the United States, and less in other parts of the world.  

With this high efficiency, low cost car in world-wide production, the price of oil could drop to $35 per barrel, given that the world’s petroleum needs could be met with half the oil. There is potential damage to the environment from alternative methods of producing oil, e.g. from tailings involved in extracting oil from Western Canadian shale. There would enough free-standing oil and natural gas in the United States to easily meet our energy needs: cheap gas for our cars; plentiful natural gas for heating our homes, supplemented by solar and wind energy in the future. The net result would be that the United States would no longer be a major emitter of CO2 emissions, but instead be an arrester of global warming gases, and become an exporter of advanced, low-cost technology.   

To reiterate, given that a car with the Holy Grail Lean Burn Engine was in production, e.g. made by SAAB, its price would be only a small fraction of the cost of a hybrid. The engine would be far simpler to build and maintain, with twice the power and half the size of a normal engine. The low cost, ancillary equipment developed by the manufacturer of the first cars means that the car would make the manufacturer a world leader in low cost, high efficiency vehicles. The tragedy today is the direction car makers are taking, e.g. 4-valves instead of 2-valves, and overly complex and expensive technologies such as hybrids, EVs, fuel cells, and HCCI systems.

Recall that the 2-Stroke ICS engine has many advantages: it is the only two-stroke engine with two overhead valves, no ports in the engine block, without any oil problems, and with a perfect Miller Cycle with an expansion ratio of 18 to 1 for best efficiency and an effective compression ratio 10.5 to 1 for best power. It also has an electronic fuel injector. LBE’s primary goal is to show the low cost, efficiency and power advantages of its engine technologies to car makers, especially to those with experience with engines having two-valves and two plugs, and with those some experience with two-stroke engines, e.g. Honda, Ford and  SAAB.
